After the elder son and his family died in a car accident and disowning his younger son,Hitu Prasad has become lonely and reclusive. He is always busy with himself, unclean and has rejected religion. Hitu Prasad's younger son Ranjan lost his life while playing with his 9-year old son named Biju. Biju thinks himself as the cause of his father's death. He do not talk much, hides his pain. He is bony and emaciated in appearance. His face is gaunt and his skin is dull. Losing his parents at a young age Biju insisted his father's friend Utpal to take him to his Grandfather. Utpal takes Biju to his Grandfather's home and urged Hitu Prasad to let him stay for a while. Hitu Prasad does not want to keep Biju with him even after having a long conversation because of his son's past, but somehow he agreed to let Biju stay with him. Biju is shocked to see the house so dirty and a doll which captured his eyes is taken by Hitu Prasad and tells him not to touch his dead grandchild's doll. When Biju wishes to hang his father's photo on the wall, Hitu Prasad forbid him to do so. Biju tried to help when Hitu Prasad have cough with a glass of water but Hitu Prasad refused to accept his offer. Hitu Prasad warned Biju not to play with the naughty children in the village but later Biju became friends with these children. The tussle between Hitu Prasad and Biju continues. One day, Biju and Hitu Prasad visit the local Advocate to inquire about the claimed insurance money of his elder son and daughter-in- law who died in a car accident. However, with the help of Biju, Hitu Prasad come to know the claimed money has already been taken. Despite being known as a fearsome recluse, Hitu Prasad soon grows to love Biju. Biju and Kanak give a bath to Hitu Prasad. Hitu Prasad begins to wear clean clothes and engaged with social affairs in the village. While cleaning the house Biju accidentally breaks the Doll, he and his friends tried to fix the Doll and success with it. While crossing the road, Biju fell and took him to the hospital. Hitu Pasad come to know that Biju is at the last stage of Liver Cancer and has only a few days left. Utpal tells Hitu Prasad that Biju's last wish was to see his Grandfather Hitu Prasad and spent his last days with him. Hitu Prasad wants to save his only living grandchild Biju anyhow but Doctor explained that it is not possible and after few days Biju lost his life. The grief of losing everyone in his life turned Hitu Prasad again back to his earlier state.
